Full Speed Ahead: Exciting Plans This March!

It’s finally a new month! February was great and all, but really, I’ve been getting antsy to put into motion all the plans I’ve got for this place.

Getting a Domain

First things first: I’ve been seriously thinking of getting this place a proper domain. I’ve only done so once before, but for a previous blog, which I set up a couple years back on another hosting service.

But since that expired, I didn’t really have any motivation to keep it. I wasn’t maintaining it anyway, so I just let it go.

But that was me in college – where I had a million things to do and barely enough money for cup noodles! This time around, I’ve got a little change to spare. Being a corporate slave has the advantage of being able to fund my own passion projects; this being only one of them.

So before I do anything else, promote anything else, or launch everything with all the fanfare, I’m making sure this place has the basics covered.

It’s my first real try using WordPress for more than a course requirement or a passing fancy. I’d like to make this one count.

Plus, not seeing a “.wordpress” on my address might even make people (and me) take this blog seriously too. Well, as seriously as anyone will take a silly blog about the tarot cards and the stars.

But hey, silly or no, with a proper .com domain, it might even feel like a real, little corner of the Internet I owned.

A New Paint Job

I know, I’ve heard how it’s been the pitfall of so many budding bloggers to focus on aesthetics before content (we’ll get to that later). But hey, there’s really nothing wrong with wanting to clean this place up before having company over. Maybe even spruce things up a bit with a nice, premium theme?

Along with the domain, I’ve been eyeing a million themes available under the Personal plan. Nothing too fancy, just a nice one that lays out the content like a nice magazine.

Which brings me to my next point…

Stream of Content

I’ve also been working on the kind of content I’ll want to be posting here from now on. At the moment, I’m still building up my Resources section. The tarot and the Astrology resources are taking a bit of time, but this is one area I would absolutely consider the “labor” part in the phrase “labor of love.”

At the same time, I’ve been plotting out blog topics, prepping drafts, doing keyword research, all that. It really does help when your day job is literally making blogs for other bloggers, and having to read like, twenty blogs a day.

For the planned content, they’ll be a bit more structured, have fancy photos and graphics. I’ve a few coming out starting next week! Like I said, I’ve been doing a lot of planning.

I’ll still be doing the Card of the Day Series – it’s the kind that inspired me to do all this in the first place. Those will be a bit sporadic, on days when I do decide it’s time for a card reading.

I’ll be doing mini-updates like this too, once in a while. These posts are quite nice to make. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to not share my thoughts 280 characters at a time.

Social Media

Look, I’ve been on a Social Media detox lately. It’s also a big reason why I’ve become quite enamored with the idea of blogging again. An escape from the micro-blogging hellscape that social media has tried to eliminate in the last twenty years.

I’ve been tweeting to a few hundred followers since I was fourteen. Ten years later, I like to write long, winding paragraphs into the void now. I don’t know why everyone stopped doing this.

But that’s where most of my connections are, so while I’m still trying to figure out how to build an Email list (if I can even build one without a plugin lmao), I’ll be promoting stuff on my socials too.

Easy ones first, Instagram and Pinterest. Later on, when I’ve a bit more content published, then it’s on to the dreaded waters of Facebook, Twitter, and all the rest. The latter won’t be till April or so, not till everything’s set up.

Funnily enough, my Instagram actually pre-dates this blog. I started posting card readings there a la Jessica Dore. But the short posts couldn’t cut it for me, so I came here. Then it turned out all I had time for were the short posts. In time, I’ll learn how to make time for both again.

So even if it’ll just be one or two of you here reading for the next couple of months – that’ll be just fine. Make yourself at home anyway!

Further into the Future…

As for other plans I’ve been jotting down, I’d like to keep them to myself for now. They’ll need a little more time, planning, and a lil extra moolah and manpower to make into a reality.

Of course, all of this is just a fun lil pet project for me. It started out as a space for me to write more about my Tarot readings and reflections, but now I realize it can be much bigger than that.

It can be a time capsule, a library, a repository of everything I’ve ever learned or will learn about the arcane.
